Omar Aranda guests at International Book Fair
3 October 2019
Beehive Illustrator Omar Aranda was live in action at the First International Children and Youth Book Fair in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, between the 25th and 29th of September!
As well as signing his Spanish language books, Omar brought storytelling at the festival to life by illustrating live to an audience of children. He found this to be a great experience, as the aim of the festival was “to encourage the reading of children and young people in the Dominican Republic." He also presented a new book, “Octavio y Baltasar," which was written by a Dominican author, Juan Carlos Toral, and illustrated by Omar himself.
The inaugural festival was a great success, featuring a whole host of local publishers, writers, and illustrators, and inspiring kids at all levels to participate in the joy of reading. Great work, Omar!
We are over the moon to learn that 'Jane Goodall: A Champion of Chimpanzees' illustrated by Beehive's very own Gustavo Mazali, has been listed as one of Bank Street's 2021 Best Children's Books of the Year!
Come and take a peek into our next 'Under the Cover.' This time we will be looking at a self-publishing series! It has been a delight to work with new writer, Alison Grunwald on her zany series, Whatever Next, Grandma! Illustrated by Beehive artist Mike Phillips.
