For as long as I can remember I've been an avid draw-er of stuff. It runs in the family I guess - my dad paints and exhibits, my grandfather was also an artist and my brother trained as a graphic designer and cartoonist.
For the past thirty years I've been freelancing as an illustrator - before that I was a primary school teacher, so you won't be surprised to learn that I've done a lot of work for educational publishers, including OUP, Heinemann, Reed, Longman, Pearson, Scripture Union and Scholastic.
Other clients include the BBC, Sky Sports magazine, HarperCollins Religious, Capstone Press (USA), Valley Press and Zondervan.
Alongside my commercial art practice I also make prints and comics, curate exhibitions and teach workshops. In 2021 I undertook a short Arts Council-funded drawing residency in the Sunny Bank Mills gallery up here in Yorkshire, and I have just finished work on a big graphic novel project for Top Shelf Productions in the USA, which is due for publication in 2026.
